PRs As Handoff
The Last Review Gate
Now that we’ve covered Branching and Conflict Drills and Code Review Best Practices for Teams, you know how code changes move through branches, conflicts, and human review.
A pull request is more than “please merge my code.” It is a handoff packet:
local branch -> pull request -> review -> merge -> pipeline/release path
The checklist is what keeps that handoff from being vague. It helps the author answer:
- What changed?
- Why does it matter?
- How was it tested?
- What could break?
- How do we undo it?
Good PRs reduce reviewer guessing. Great PRs make merge risk obvious.
